Well hello, spring!

I think I found the sweet spot on this crazy spring weekend. It was just warm enough to go running for the swimming holes and just cool enough to half way zip up my bag at night. Perfect except for the bits of extreme wind and that part where I got rained on with no tent or coat.

Like wise. Amazing clouds all of Friday, and Saturday, then cleared up Saturday night for an amazing sunset. That was followed by a clear night sky! Low was only about 40 at lowest. I only used my bag as a blanket. :)

I hate you all. The forecast this coming weekend is nowhere near as nice.

I was in the Needles hiking Chesler Park and Druid Arch and the weather could not have been any better! perfect for hiking, a little cloudy and a little sunny

I hiked to Druid Arch on Saturday morning from Elephant Hill. It was great! Didn't see anyone until I was on my way back to the trailhead.

looks like i'll be frolic-ing in the desert this weekend.
roost, scalante, paria... undecided. depends on where the wind won't blow. :)
50's-60's in the desert is close enough to idyllic as long as those g*dd*m spring winds stay up on the surrounding plateaus.

@ ashergrey, there's warmer than here.

Wife and I were in Lower Salt Creek. It was perfect.

The back country permits were totally full for everywhere but Salt Creek, I'm amazed you didn't see anyone IntrepidXJ. We only saw a few people passing the other way with our two days.

Well, I started the hike an hour before sunrise, so I hiked halfway there in the dark. I find that if you get a real early start, even on the popular trails you don't run into many people. I sat and rested on the slickrock under the arch for an hour expecting people to start showing up at any time...but it never happened :)

I had a similar experience there one afternoon in November. It's an awesome arch to have to yourself.

Next time I see Druid needs to be in the early morning light, anytime after that the sun just blasts into your lens. I'm excited to see the pics.

Well, don't get too excited to see them.....it was overcast while I was there...

we did Chesler first and were at Druid Arch about 3:30 but we were the last ones there, on the way out we didn't see anyone until we got close to elephant hill when the backpackers started heading in
