In September we're doing the Thorofare loop. Super stoked. Starting at South Entrance and ending at Heart Lake TH. I have sites 8C2, 6M7, 6Y4, 6Y6, 6C2, 6A3, 8J6, BH6. Most of it looks like water fill ups won't be an issue. However, that first stretch along South Boundary Trail until you get to the Thorofare looks a little dry. My biggest concern is from 8C2 TO 6M7. That of course, is the 16.4 mile stretch up and over the Continental Divide. Any other places along our route that we're going to have to carry? It's my first YS trip so I'm not sure what level of worry to give water availability. Thanks for all your input.

Big Game Ridge has a short stretch that is pretty dry, but water is plentiful before at harebell and after at fox creek. There’s a few good camping areas along south boundary trail as it drops south into the Teton Wilderness if you don’t want to do a 16 mile day to get to the the next YS designated campground.

That's a good tip. 16 miles east coast style at 4,000 ft is way different then at 8,000 ft. Good bail out option that I hadn't thought of. Thanks Cody

Now have hiked all over this country with no water problems from spring to fall. The thing about the GYE is one does not need to pack much water as compared to the desert. And much of that Mountain water is just so darn good.

Just realized this was an old thread. Oops.

Here's a good campsite outside the Park between Fox Creek cabin and Harebell Creek cabin. Camped there in early October a few years ago and there was still water in Harebell Creek.
