Uintas Conditions 2013

AND, a finer aspect of a short approach. No need to distill it down to just Scotch :hungry:

Amen, brotha! Although I had a kind of tough reminder that alcohol is significantly more effective at high elevation last night. I guess 7 beers, a fifth of High West and a pint of Vodka and Koolaid was more than enough for the two of us...

I'm liking what I'm seeing here too :). My son and I can't quite get all our crap in the right pile to go this week, so have to wait until next week, then we'll soooooooo be there :D. Thinking we'll go over Rocky Sea and just hang out on the west side of upper Rock Creek for a couple days - camp somewhere around Rosalie/Margie/Uintah.

Thanks! I love this hike! Last time I was up there, during the descent , I saw a man that looked drunk on the trail. I caught up to him and it turned out he was just a older gentleman in his 70's having some trouble with cramps. I stopped and chatted with him for bit. It turns out he had recently lost his wife. The hike up Timp was their first date in 1940's and he hadn't been back up since then. I was amazed he made the summit and even slid down the glacier!!

Be ready for snow up there! I had some Sunday morning.

Suck! Too soon!! And look at this forecast for the week:

BEHIND THE COLD FRONT A COLD STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO NORTHERN UTAH WEDNESDAY AND PUSH INTO SOUTHERN UTAH THURSDAY. SNOW LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO LOWER TO NEAR 6500-7000 FEET WITH ACCUMULATING SNOW ABOVE 7500 FEET ACROSS THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS.
THE FIRST FROST OF THE SEASON IS POSSIBLE FOR MANY AREAS OTHER THAN EXTREME SOUTHERN UTAH COME SATURDAY MORNING.

Fall colors along 150 are great, took this pic last saturday
