Hey wait. I think I've hugged this tree! In the dirty devil river drainage @ROKTAXI ??

Nope @langutah... it's in a non-trail area about 10 miles south of Grand Junction where I cross country hike with my dog. I try and stay in drainages so she can find water.

Given the steep, north facing bowl these were located in, there was no low angle lighting available.

This was a tree on the north rim that I liked. I saw it on two different days.

Interesting pair of sibling aspens in the southern foothills of the San Juan mountains. One alive, one not. Each kept to their own side of the divide. CORRECTION - they are the same individual. Aspen stalks/trees are clones of the same individual since they propagate as shoots underground. Only 1% of apens grow out of airborne seeds. When you see a color patch the same in the autumn that is an indicator they are the same tree - with many trunks.

And a Juniper with one of the biggest Juniper bases I've seen in a while
