10th Mt Hut trips are not as easy to get on as they use to be. Fortunately, where I live.....I have many friends applying for dates thru the whole ski season. I could get on a dozen trips if I really had the time and wanted too.I've never skied and I think the winter gear budget is tapped out for this year. It's my first winter here in CO. I moved here from FL so it's a big change. I'd love to do a 10th Mtn hut trip. Everything is booked so far in advance. Plus I really should have someone to go with. Hopefully next season.

I applaud you for doing all these solo trips.. but you would be better suited to find a partner or two to make your trips a bit safer. Maybe easier said than done. Perhaps there is a hiking club in your area you might be able to find some like minded folks to share a trip with you. The "Backcountry We're not Creeps Club" or something... Most of our 10th mt trips are 2-4 nights with anywhere between 10-16 people. Safety in numbers. However...... we did freak out the whole crew at the Peter Estin Hut many years back. The wind somehow blew open the front door of the hut.. The comment about Ted Bundy still loose in the Colorado mts had most people sleeping with pocket knives and ski poles for the next couple nights.
Continued luck on your drive to explore. I love the attitude!!!
