Day Four on Cache Creek in Yellowstone with @scatman - cannot tell if his exhausted expression is due to the cold/rain or simply due to my presence.
There will be stories to tell from this trip - Moose, Mary Mountain, Tussling Elk, Bison, Lamar Valley, Meeting @Pringles and Kevin ( @KJR ?) More Moose, More Bison, Cache Creek, Wahb Springs/Death Gulch, The Needle, More Elk, Rain, An Angry Bison at 3C4, The Thunderer, several breakfast buffets, and even a meet up with @Bob and Mrs. Bob to send us off.

The sort of stuff that builds character.
I think this picture of @scatman more or less sums up the hiking portion of the day.

@TractorDoc approaching the Cache Creek Patrol Cabin in the pouring rain on day four.
And this sums up day four pretty well - I've had enough.

Woohoo- a resupply of my favorite beer
And a gorgeous birthday hike last week!
Then some awesome grizzly viewing, two days in a row in Yellowstone. Here’s a semi-wet one yesterday midday. We watched her/him for 30mins, very cool, impressive claws!
Not sharp…but that was the initial view .
Today the grizzly stood up several times, photos to follow!

Made it up Avenues Twin Peaks yesterday with Sheila. On our way down the south summit ridge, we passed a couple of guys working their way up. One of the gentlemen told us about a cave on the east side of the southern twin peak, so after parting ways with the two, we headed over and checked out Soft Shoulder Cave.
Hiking through the foothills
Trail and southern twin
Some fall colors along our way. It was a hot day in Salt Lake with the temp heading up to 87 degrees
The couple that past us at the beginning, heading straight up the ridge of the south twin
We took the long way around heading up the north twin first before heading over to the south twin
Curly gumweed
These maples usually standout in the fall
The Dude Benchmark across City Creek Canyon
Sheila heading up the north twin
Summiting the north twin
Heading up the south twin
One of those tarantula hawk wasp
South summit shot
Hoary Aster
Balkan Toadflax
The two guys heading up the ridge. The guy in the maroon shirt was struggling. The one in black told us about the cave.
Grasshopper
Heading to the gulch ahead on the Shoreline Trail
Taking the faint trail up the gulch
Reaching the mouth of Soft Shoulder Cave
Heading in
Deer skull in the cave
Not too deep
Sheila checking it out
Heading back
Upper gulch on the right side of the south twin is where the cave is located, maybe 100 yards up.
Back at the Sube.

Windy day on the top of Ensign this morning. A big storm is rolling in overnight and lasting through Wednesday. Killed my plans for Broads Fork Twin Peaks on Monday and thus Ensign this morning.
Krakatoas @TractorDoc !
Storm clouds gathering on the east side of the valley over the mountains.
And the old Jeep makes an appearance.

My eyes! I'm disturbed by the fact that your pose with the wind reminds me of the Marylin Monroe over the subway vent picture.Krakatoas @TractorDoc !
I think you might even be smiling too.

The wind wasn’t bad at Bear Lake yesterday- we’re sitting out the storm up here.
