THE BARRACKS (East Fork of the Virgin River)

Lower Parunuweap has been closed by the national park for quite a while. From what I understand their is some private property at the beginning of the hike but the property owner has granted access. If this turns out to not be true there are several other access points (poverty wash, french canyon, even mineral wash).

It is passed the Labyrinth Falls areas that is off limits from my understanding because it's a research area inside the park but, you can exit Checkerboard Mesa

Lower section is a research area and may never be open to the public. It seems like I read somewhere that there's some native sites of archeological value in there too.
I only got to see part; I'd like to get back there sometime to see more.
Also the rock fall/log jam was mentioned as being difficult. Cody and I followed a route through the rockfall. It was nothing too strenuous; boulder hopping and some crawling under an overhang. It would be a pain in the ass with full size packs, but totally do-able.

I think I'm gonna hit this tomorrow with my boy. We will prob just hike in till we can get to a good camp site and do a little exploring from there and then hike out the next day. Are there any restrictions in the area that would prevent me from using a woodstove to cook? I'm hoping we can find enough trees to hammock camp as well.
