I picked up an interesting used book. The Art Of Rough Travel by Sir Francis Galton. It has got some very interesting techniques for planning and surviving an expedition. It is an old 18th century manual for explorers, with some surprisingly relevant information for todays explorers. I found I could not stop reading! I hope I never see the day when I need to dig up bones and boil them to get nutrients from the marrow but I now know what to do should the need arise. Has anyone else read this book or something similar?
