Tetons planning

Riverrunner.
Sounds like you have an awesome trip planned. We will be one day ahead of you on the Teton Crest trail. We were also lucky enough to line up a shuttle from another BCP member. Hopefully somebody will be able to help you out as well.
Love the Wind's as well.
We will spend a week there,.before our Tetons trip.
Good luck with planning
Cheers

Why don't you park at String Lake and get a shuttle from Teton Taxi back to the tram if no one here responds. Also, a side trip to static peak is a great idea! Do it as a day hike then head back to Mirror Lake in the Basin, pack up, then head over to Sunset Lake for your second night in the Basin.

Skip "The Wall" and once you enter the South Fork, head up to Avalanche Divide with a view of The Wall and Kit and Snowdrift Lakes. Then stay as low in the campzone as you can. There is a great spot where you can soak in the river near the group site.

A side trip up to Mica then over to Holly Lake is doable, but will be a longer day. Skip fishing in Lake Multitude and just get over Paintbrush and fish Holly.

Thanks kcwins for your continued recommendations. We will gladly take your advice.
IRG-- we will be right behind ya'll.

Hey all! My first post here. Use to be on backpacker.com forum with posts about the Winds. Well after 4 backpacking trips to the incredible Winds, my buddies and I have planned a trip to do the Teton Crest Trail. Thanks to all the previous posters for the invaluable information. We were able to get the following reservations and this is our itinerary:

August 29th-Saturday- arrive via flight to Jackson Hole (late afternoon) Stay in Teton Village at Hostel
August 30th-Sunday- free day, pick up bear canisters at Jenny Lake Ranger station, day trip to Yellowstone
August 31st-Monday- Ride Tram and start Hike, camp at Marion Lake
Sept 1- Tuesday_camp at Alaska basin
Sept 2- Wednesday-day hike up Static Peak, do some trout fishing, stay another night at Alaska basin
Sept 3rd- Thursday-side trip to "the Wall", camp in lower end of S. Fork of Cascade
Sept 4th-Friday_ side trip up to Mica Lake? fish Solitude Lake, camp at Holly Lake
Sept 5th-Saturday_ Hike out to String Lake Trail Head (mid-day) stay night in motel
Sept 6th-Sunday_ flight home to ATL

We need help with a shuttle. We are renting a car, but need help giving us a ride back to Teton Village on Saturday Sept 5th mid day. The other option would be to plant our car at the end trail head (String Lake) late Sunday August 30th. Hitchhiking is a good option. Most likely leave 2 people with the gear as the other 2 hitch and go get the car.

A few questions:
Is there a free place to park the entire week near the Tram in Teton Village?
Where's the best place for a post hike meal in Jackson?
Any other suggested side trips or lakes to fish are appreciated.

I just got back yesterday and did a similar trip.

Question 1 Parking:
There is a free parking area directly in front of the Mangy Moose Hotel and Tram at Teton Village. The hostel is just to the left of that. There is a booth at the entrance to the lot and they will tell you to park as long as you want (no kidding).

Question 2 Dinner:
We ate at MacPhails at 399 Broadway in Jackson. They have amazing burgers and fries.

If I only had one car I would leave the rental at the trail head where there is a lot of parking and take a shuttle to the tram. You will want your car when you get off the trail.

Nice!
I am sure we will be talking about a great big burger all along the trail. Having the car there and waiting will likely work best.
Thanks again.
