Teton Wilderness July 2024

Hmmm... an ultra epic Hidden Creek expedition? I'm intrigured... realistically I think I can only commit to one of these hikes though. For now count me in on the original trip of discussion on this thread.

Thanks! I may have spoken too soon... that Hidden Creek trip looks like something I need to do. You're going to have to count me in on that one instead, it looks amazing.

Are y'all coming in from the South Fork Shoshone? If so, have "fun".
I think Bob has us entering at Deer Creek.

Would you consider that to be more or less "fun?" :D

I think we are supposed to exit at South Fork Shoshone.

The elevation gain on day one does not look promising for us lowlander types.

The precipitous edges and my fear of heights might have me hanging onto the Scatman's kilt for dear life.

No one has yet mentioned the parts of the map that Bob has marked with a skull and crossbones.

To the right person this could be a lot to look forward to. :)
This sounded interesting until I read this. You guys are masochists.

That's the one - it's a doozy. Beautiful and worth it though!
Dont tell them its hard..... Ive been saying a easy hike (LOL) .....2 days to the top, only 4000 ft vert! Trying to hit coming out Fall Creek to the South Fork Shoshone via a ridge walk from the headwaters of Thorofare Creek. Pretty ambitious? You could come along !? and pick up the pieces.

Guessed at route on Caltopo just using trails and ridgeline. Got 30 miles, 9800' gain/loss. 5200' gain in first 10 miles with full packs. So Bob has a plan to save you 1200' vertical! Cakewalk... Then I est. 4800' down over 5 miles near the end.

My knees hurt thinking about it. Should be good griz country.

@Bob assured me this would be easy.

He lured us in with sweet whispers of shorter daily mileages.

I was looking forward to a more relaxed pace, but I am getting the impression this journey may be more intense than last year.

The trip will turn you into a real mountain man !! ................................................................................ or kill you.

We may need Skipper to come pick up the pieces.

Who looks at gains and losses........they always average out to zero.

Sounds like a phenomenal route. I'd join in a heartbeat, but looks like it'll overlap w/ my re-scheduled Alaska trip. Definitely want to hear about it!

I've got to say that the masochist in me is looking forward to the skull and crossbones part :)

Looks like a great trip! I've always loved the drive along that area on my way down into Teton.

I'm pretty interested, but won't be able to commit until we're closer to the dates. What do I have to do to pass muster? Hopefully something exciting.
