Teton Wilderness: Ariz. Creek to Brooks Lake, July 2016

I totally apologize for offending anyone who read the article from Backpacker magazine.
According to the SAN Juan NF and CalTopo maps the name of the lake is Rock Lake.
There are several ways to reach the lake which do NOT involve crowds and Chicago Basin. I leave it to your own ingenuity to plot a route through quiet terrain.
Have fun.

For the record, a quick survey of nearest mechanized access to Rock Lake, straight line air miles:
Beartown 4WD Road/Kite Lake: ~7.5 miles.
Train at Needlton stop: ~12 miles.
Pine River/Rio Grande: 12-13 miles.
You have to want to visit Rock Lake. I think I shall.

It may be awhile before I can get there.
In the meantime, I found pictures from previous trip reports searching Rock Lake, Colorado with Google.

Mmmm, makes me miss the GYE even more. I never could venture into that part while I was around that area. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome! Thanks for writing this up. I love this area. Talk about some exciting country. Glad you guys had a good time. Not many people get out that way outside of outfitters.
