Album Snow and Winter Shots

My trashcan, cleared off just yesterday in Livingston, Montana - 2nd coldest February on record, freeway closed today to all but emergency travel, maybe a half-dozen days all month where the temp was above zero, two feet of snow on the streets, schools closed...and to think I could've gone south to places like those beautiful photos above...but I have to think positive...NO MOSQUITOES!!!

Trying to stay positive here in Nebraska too. Normal highs this time of year is about freezing, but we are struggling to buy days above 10. The forecast through mid March is not very spring like.

We've gotten more snow here in February than the rest of winter combined. Still nothing like what @Rockskipper has but putting plenty of hours on the tractor keeping my lane open.

Edit to add 10 day forecast... usually the frost begins to go out in the beginning of March here.20190226_182450.jpg

We haven't had much snow until recently. But the winds have been fairly mild, which is highly unusual. Only two or three days of over 70 mph, but mostly calm. And I live near the trains and it's weird to see big engines with icicles. Here's a photo I took of icicles forming when we did have winds, they were growing at an angle:

Yes, helicopter access only, unless you were enough of a masochist to endure 2 days of slogging along an overgrown logging road that crosses hundreds of slidepaths. Lodge is a bit left of and below centre in pano. Tele view from the same spot: View attachment 75468

WOW! I see the lodge now, but no.... I couldn't find it either in the panorama. Enjoy!

Looked outside while I was at work and immediately felt sick (fake cough).
Left early and almost a mile of hiking later, I started feeling much better. By evening, I was peachy and smiling.

This winter just keeps on giving.

Not sure if it's winter or spring, as it keeps changing.

Same here in Alberta, as usual for April. On our 18 km ski tour yesterday in Kananaskis and a brief corner of Banff NP, we looped through 2 valleys, via 3 passes, with 2 descents offering some pretty good powder turns along the way.
Below- a short bootpack was required in one spot- it's been a low snow winter here.

The weather closed in and the winds picked up as we prepared to descend from the first pass of the day. Our next pass is above yellow jacket's head, after the descent into the valley that separates the two passes.

With the stormy weather, the camera was safely stowed away for the remainder of the trip.
