Man, that looks like one sweet mountain.
Just out of curiosity, what's the trailhead elevation and distance to the summit?
That view from the top is fantastic. Is the trailhead in Idylwild or maybe at the top of the tram? It ranks as one of the most majestic mountains I've seen due to the straight rise from the valley floor.
Nowhere is that more apparent than after you've come "down the mountain" on Hwy62 from the Morongo Basin. You come around the last curve and there it is. Like a sentinel in the distance. It's breathtaking.Great! San Jacinto has one of the the largest "prominences" in the United States. The distance from the base of the peak to the summit is greater than almost all. Great job climbing it with a pack.
