I was lucky to join in on this @scatman organized backpack to Yellowstone NP on short notice just after arriving in Wonderful Wyoming. The weather prediction was pretty grim with rain at 70% and lows in the thirties, highs in the low sixties at best. Everyone, the Scat clan and three hangers on, arrived at the trailhead at the appointed hour packed and ready to go. We hiked the few miles to our designated campsite, set up the shelters, had lunch and then some of us headed off to Turkey Pen Peak to see what we could see. Thankfully, the forecast did not pan out and we enjoyed some nice walking and views. Next day we all went up to the nearby summit of Mt Everts. Caught a couple light showers and a few wildlife sightings, black bear, elk and big horns. Back at camp in the evening we saw a large grizzly at a comfortable distance. I’d gathered some wood in the morning and us hangers on had a nice fire on into the night. In the morning it was a quick and easy hike out. The Scat clan headed off towards home while us other three headed on to the next trailhead for a little more backcountry fun.
