Rescue Creek - Yellowstone National Park - June 3, 2023

BTW @scatman, there were plenty of wildlife photos at the Slough Creek Trailhead on our way in and out, photographing badgers.

Don't know if the badgers will hang out until your next trip, but if you have a moment and you're in the area, may be worth a visit...

You lucky dog!

Love your great animal photos. And flowers, too - I would have incorrectly assumed there wouldn't be that many yet. Looks like you had a fun trip all together!

In fairness, we never looked. It appeared to be times when the badger wasn't actively out and about by the general lack of attention to the cameras of the photographers. But I'm guessing a bit of patience would have gotten a badger viewing.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if there would be many wildflowers either, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Snotels are at zero..... Lol

Last time I was up there I saw a good two feet on the ground at the flats below Mt. McDougal.

But that was a couple of years ago.

Those sites must be on a southern slope. :) 17 inches at Spring Creek Divide - elevation 9000 feet.
We are not going by spring creek

Thoroughly enjoyable read! Great camera work by all. Thanks for listing the cameras. Those big zoom lenses must've helped with wildlife pics. Glad you found the Cold Smoke finally!

Thanks OldBill. The lens I had on my Rebel was an EF-S 18 - 200 mm. Katie carried the PowerShot SX730, and she was able to zoom closer than I was, but when zoomed in on the SX730, you get some camera shake at the highest zoom level. She'd have had some great shots if she had used my tripod. The waterproof PowerShot doesn't do much of anything except allow you to take pictures worry free when it is raining.

Here are a couple of shots that I took with my lens when I wasn't zoomed in.

I've got one of the bear I've named Bob that I nabbed w/ my 135mm, then cropped in a bit that hopefully won't stink too much. Still working out my photos when I have some time with plans of writing a completely inadequate trip report...

I loved the trip report! I want you to know, that the service stations do not have Tony's Chocolonely, but I think we might have Cold Smoke. I'll have to check at the store tomorrow. I believe we have unbroken chips, though not Lays, and we have packets of catsup, so you could make your own salsa. And, we have somewhat robust plastic spoons, for your eating and hiking pleasure.

I regret that I couldn't go. I loved the flowers and the scenery and the bears and, well, all of it. Except the ticks. I don't like ticks. Maybe I'll get to go next time!
