Hey all, has anyone been in this area last few years? Looking for info on camping just below Republic Pass on the North Absaroka Wilderness side before entering the trail head at 3N1 below where the trail starts to hit steeper elevation climbing. What have been the trail conditions to the pass? Also, if anyone has climbed up to the top of Republic Peak and if that is doable/worth it with a full pack with 4 nights of weight. Haven't found reliable pics of Republic Creek, is it fishable? I have found plenty of fishing info for Cache and the Lamar. Will be staying at camps along Cache and into the first half of Lamar in early August. I welcome any info or areas to check out from these trails. Thanks- Jeff

It was in fine shape in 2017. It's more enjoyable on the north (NF) side of the pass than the south side, as the south side is burned to a crisp. The trail is still in fine shape, but it's not very pretty.

Republic Peak shouldn't be a problem.

Enjoy!
