In March 2017 I did a 3 day 25 mile loop hike in the Pinto Valley Wilderness, 1 hour east of Las Vegas. This area is part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. This place was very colorful and unique, not the typical desert hike:







Almost all of this hike is off trail. We had to do about 2 miles of road walking each way coming to and from the trailhead to make this loop work. I would add a more detailed write up here, but I already have a 4000+ word trip report written here(with my caltopo map for the hike):
