Just a reminder to anyone who is hiking or considering hiking the PCT this year that registration is live until November 3rd for the first round of permits. The first round of permits are available on November 14th. I’m 90% sure I’m going to attempt it this year. Anyone else here considering it?

Very exciting! My timeslot was 10:55am last year and I had my choice of dates. My biggest advice re permits is not to stress about it. If you get a crappy date (or everything's full), local permits really are a viable option. Lots of ways to skin that cat.

All the best on your adventure!

Nice… I’m not to worried about the dates as I have a flexible schedule. I actually got a permit last year, but I broke my foot in February and the snow scared me away. Did you hike it this year?

Well the PCT is an excellent trail for broken feet. I broke mine pretty badly in '21 and the aftermath took a couple years to come back from. This year, I found that the PCT was pretty kind to it, as compared to other, rockier trails. Certainly has its spots (the lava rock stretches in Oregon come to mind) but overall it's pretty friendly. I NOBO'ed the desert, and then SOBO'ed the rest of the trail.

Excellent, I’m starting to get psyched. I might have to hit you up for recommendations as the planning commences. I just saw the AZT>Idaho thru hike you did, looks epic. Do you have anything big planned for 2024?

You bet. Miya also did the PCT in '21 I believe, and can probably chime in with advice as well. Don't have my '24 plans figured out yet, though we're getting to the time of year where I should figure that stuff out!
