There's nothing particularly "to die for" or "bucket list" about Lincoln County Nevada. However, the mountains are endless, the basin valleys broad and loaded with prehistoric cultural evidence, interesting drylakes, and classic Mojave Desert flora, and bountiful springs bring birds and other life. Above all, it is seemingly empty of people once leaving pavement....perfect.
It is the shortest drive to the Mojave from my home so I like to start my trips there. I'll never run out of peaks to scramble, rock art to sleuth out, and vista campsites to locate.
Having only recently graduated from a sedan to a Forester, I am now beginning to explore more of Desert National Wildlife Refuge. Refuge it is, and I chose to hike and scramble around an unnamed set of mountains in view of a large dune and dry lake complex for day one. If anyone wants, I can add maps.

On my second day I headed for Delamar Dry Lake and the spine of Black Point, searching for rock art and scrambling points on some fun limestone and tuff.

On day 3 I started for Vegas area to eventually pick up my friend Lori at MacCarran. I stopped to a loop hike in the southern Arrow Canyon Range enroute.
