Pacific Crest Trail (NOBO) Part 8/10

Wait.

Who doesn't like black olives on their Pizza!!?? :)
Haha good point!

It was my request, but I DO like olives on my pizza.

I had also went to the pizza place next door and bought 2 HUGE gourmet style slices. Different sauces and toppings and non traditional. They were GREAT! and so I knew that I would want just traditional cheese and pepperoni after I finished the complicated ones haha Sawyer and I ended up exchanging 1 slice though, so I still got olives :)

Pizza is Nature's Most Perfect Food, pretty sure. I bet it tasted awesome. I still can't figure out how you guys didn't turn into waif-like twigs on the trail.

Yeah, it didn't print the way I meant it. I was asking "who" doesn't like black olives, not the royal "who", simply because from the pic obviously there was some division going on with that pie. I don't mean to offend any olive H8ers or anything :)

No worries!

All this talk of pizza ... I had to order one. Thanks a lot!! (though I did bring it up.. Hm..)

I would definitely lose enough in between sections that by the last couple days into town, I felt weak. Then you get to town and eat the most you can! I would put on 3-6lbs which would keep me sustained for the first day or two of the next section. Then the remaining 2-8 days I just ran on fumes and stubbornness haha

Awesome scenery on this section! I probably need to make it up to Washington someday, but... if I'm gonna go that far it's only one more flight to Alaska hahaha!

I feel that someday I'm going to be that strange guy on the trail singing bizarre songs to people. Maybe it's not so far away, I just need to learn some songs...

Black olives are disgusting to me! Green olives are tolerable but prefer none on my pizza.

Granted I only hiked a few miles in Alaska and I am sure it is GORGEOUS, but Washington is too. You can't go wrong :)

Haha well I bet thru hikers will happily humor you by listening, so make sure to hit long distance trails.

Dang, you don't like olives either? I used to only like black, but now I LOVE them all. The stronger tasting, like kalamata, the better!

LOL did you really? Did you get it with olives?

Yes really! No olives, no anchovies. I do like black olives OK on "supreme" style, with lots of other stuff, mushrooms and onions. Jalapenos are my new favorite, I think.

I have been digging Jalapenos on pizza two!

If it is a place where I can pick my own, like a personal, I get pretty weird with my toppings though. Goat cheese is probably my FAVORITE thing on pizza, but blue cheese is up there too :)

Still loving this and reading along, and you just blazed through where I spent some time a few weeks ago, although many views were limited in places by smoke, so we had to adjust plans.
All those miles and those steep up/downs each day. Way to go! I can only imagine parts of how any of this would actually feel.

Olives of all types are good... I am going to have to go visit my pantry now since it is lunchtime.

That is too bad about the smoke! My smokiest area was Oregon and Washington was just covered in fog, but I prefer the latter.

The monument did close last year too because of a lightning fire, luckily by the time I got there the area was open :)

I half expected to see you in that saddle. :D

It looks like one of the mountain goats has a collar?

Another great installment Miya! I'm moving on to part 9.

I definitely wanted to, but it was up really high and I also worried it would like disintegrate if I put my weight on it haha It looked pretty old as the tree had started to grow around it!

Yeah it did, I figured it was being tracked by the NP? but I never found out for sure.

My oldest kid (almost 14) and I refer to pepperoni and black olives as "celebration pizza" after we had that after we finished her first "real" backpacking trip when she was 6, still makes me smile :)

The WA stretch leading into White Pass area looks amazing and then south of Leavenworth is wow!

Awwww celebration pizza?! Love it!

I would happily hike the entirety of Washington again, but yes, leaving Leavenworth was so vast and stunning! I highly recommend!
