I am looking for a 3-day backpacking trip for this weekend and am thinking about the Owl/Fish loop. Getting a little stuck on descriptions of a 20-foot crack where a rope is recommended. I'm going solo and wouldn't have a good way to pass up a pack. Has anyone done this loop? Any pictures of the crack you could share?

Alternatively, where would you go this weekend?

I have done this several times, down Owl and up Fish, and have never needed a rope. You need to be careful on your descent into Owl, and getting out of Fish I remember a short crack (maybe 10') that we climbed without difficulty, once in the rain. I don't know your climbing capabilities so maybe bringing a rope would be prudent.
This is from the BLM:

It is a beautiful hike, maybe even explore a bit up Fish, as there are more ruins to be found, and is relatively uncrowded.

If you wanted to stay on Cedar Mesa, you could try Mule Canyon, higher than Owl and not far away.

Thanks for the ideas. Warm??? I live in Moab. It's just barely getting toasty. ;)

It sounds like I can handle the Fish/Owl loop by myself. I'll take some cord along just in case.
