Bright moonlight & Northern lights at camp on Cedar Mesa. Nothing our eyes could capture, but Rick captured these images with long exposure on his camera:
And early this morning, for @Ugly :
Orion with a faint red light
Unfortunately I was working night shift... probably should have used a sick day for this one. Even from my workplace with lots of light pollution I could see them. At points they were even visible to the south of me. They were not as bright as I expected but still pretty good given my poor location. Interestingly, after about 10 or 11PM they just died out, despite there still being quite a bit of solar wind activity. My family, who live out in the country in a pretty dark area, got some great views of them.
Hoping to spot the comet next. I've been checking the last couple evenings and mornings but haven't found it yet.
It was a really good week for aurora viewing in Calgary. My neck is a bit sore! I hadn't much bothered with photos, until taking these with my phone from our deck on Thursday.
