We have a permit for the North Grouseberry campsite on 7/26 and 26, with plans to day hike up to Lake Nanita and an attempt on Ptarmigan Mountain. Does anyone know the extent of last Fall’s burn along the trail and the condition of the trail/campsite?

I have not been up there since the fire, but according to this map, you will be hiking through the burned area for most of the way in. Looks like the campsite didn't get burned and you should be fine once past the camp.

It's late. You already went up there, but for anyone else wondering...

The first half mile to the meadow are burned, but not too horribly. After the meadow, the destruction is devastating. It's like that up to the steep approach to Cascade Falls. I haven't been up past that, but it appeared that the area beyond that was not burned.
