92609232-5F22-440C-AFF6-4BBFD244C59D.jpegPart one, “ Meetin’ th Yeller Fellers”. We met up at th West Yellowstone NPS visitor center parkin’ lot n then our intrepid explores made their way to a local sandwich shop for provisions.(good eatin!) 1B0C1260-395D-47A2-A422-7A0660518C91.jpegIt had been months gettin’ to this point of just putti’ my feet on th trail. Back in Feb had a big toenail fall off n battle fungus on it, then in May injured th Achilles’ tendon on th same foot…but wait, there’s more, June came and I broke th pinky toe on th other foot..it wasn’t lookin’ too good for a trek into th backcountry at that point. But with weeks of PT on th tendon, as ya can see, I made it.CF9D62B4-AD8C-48CC-BBF5-4C420D2587EC.jpegAhhh, fall colors were everywhere! My favorite tree ,Aspen, was turnin’ their yellow hues. The avg temps in th park are low 70s and right bout 38 in early Sept. I’d been lookin forward to this as Austin had been hot n humid all summer! More to come on how Yellowstone turned up th thermostat on me later…59EF2099-3C49-46F7-9C5F-F7BCF3C06A78.jpegAfter walkin a piece, we came to th official border between NPS and USFS. Suffice ta say, I was a bit giddy ta finally be here.87BF0DB6-C967-41CE-B14C-F1ACEA627E7D.jpegA little bit bout this area, th Gneiss Creek backcountry campsite is the most remote one in th park if ya look at distance between sites. Th trail starts on th NW corner of th park and heads over to th Madison River bridge that ya get to from th West Yellowstone entrance. Mostly meadows, up n downs, and very little shade, this area is also a bear management area. Due to all this it’s rarely used as a campsite. Oh, there are supposedly a wolf pack in th area too.2F355A63-4661-4519-AFEB-47E7A65DB6D5.jpeg65D15992-0A7D-4AD6-99DD-CA7AFD6443E8.jpegD8E4981F-DA53-4973-A65A-9EF9C9CEF7D8.jpegOn and on we go…5AF1265D-ED3B-47A3-8273-BE5046CBE603.jpegIt’s close to 80 today, but the signs of fall are all around…( where’s that cool weather Yellowstone?)831D5E3B-F0C3-490D-9D48-204AF7206997.jpegWhat we all would have given for some of these bridges th next day!B0A9C205-B53F-4072-BDD9-B3BF58902624.jpegThe colors, camaraderie and crisp WARMair…did I mention it was warm?D238D82B-53A1-44C5-A482-444D7E58C6AB.jpeggo yeller fellers! Side note here..this group of four gentlemen, and I use that term very loosely, has been comin on a yearly trip for a few years and I was truly blessed to be invited and welcomed into their group…I was truly humbled and grateful for this blessin’. As We headed to bed, I anxiously awaited for what was in store for our intrepid explores when the sun would come up as I was in for my first of many I hope, Scatman, led, approved and planned day hiks.. It was to be more than I could ever hope to imagine. In more ways than one. Stay tuned for the thrillin day 2 , “I thought he’d kilt me!”

In a couple of those photos you look like you're all headed different directions, like you maybe weren't in cahoots on which way to go. I assume it all worked out in the end and you're all still alive? I mean, I know you and @scatman are (I assume unless someone else is posing as you, which would be hard to do, esp. for the Scatster), but has anyone seen the other two guys?

True..I had read and watched via Joey’s trip vids re: th infamous Scatman’s ability to assist one in their quest to experience all encompassing excellent adventure..with that said, some pics were lookin where we were goin, n some where we’d been just so I could find my way out if need be! LOL

On a rare serious note, The kilt adorned Scatman’s itinerary never disappoints! He’s th Yellerstone adventure guru!

Here is an rare iconic photo of Th man, th Myth, th legend that is Scatman…if he looks larger than life…it is because in th Yellowstone backcountry, he is. Truth.

Most excellent day one report @The Trout Whisperer! The grizzlies didn't cooperate on this trip for some reason. The only sign we saw were the two dug up yellowjacket nests.

Who are those jokers sitting on the log, not seeing, not talking and not listening?

Think they said their names were Moe, Larry and Curly..or something like that.

on th excellent part, I’ve been reading this Scatman guys reports and just trying to keep up with him….seriously, it truly was th best trip I’ve been on yet…but I’m thinkin it’ll drop to second place after th Grizzly Lake trip…maybe we will see Bigfoot on that one!
