Album Night Shots and Star Trails

Best show of northern lights I've ever seen last night. I was outside from 6:45PM to 10PM and they were visible to the unaided eye the whole time. They were incredibly active, snaking across the sky in clouds and pillars. At times they were visible straight to the south of me (a rarity in Nebraska). Looks like there is potential for another good show tonight.

I used a mirrorless SLR for a lot of photos and had issues getting the focus right. Didn't realize it until about 3/4 of the way through shooting 200 pictures. Had a lot with poor focus. May dig out my old Nikon D750 (which is a better night photography camera anyway) if there is a good showing of the aurora tonight.

I stuck the GoPro out Wednesday night just in case the Northern Lights made a comeback.

I stayed up too late Tuesday night and had a full workday today (Thursday) to stay up late again last night.

No where near as good a show as 11/11, but here is a little color in a YouTube short.

I was stuck at work in the middle of all the light pollution unfortunately. Fully overcast tonight.
 
Looks like Utah got nice ones.... most I ve seen were from 4 to 6am. Tonite is forecast at a 5...... enough for here....we will see, its still a crap shoot for the time period.

I figured you'd have some epic pictures Bob!

Took some pictures yesterday -- we had some color around 6:30-7:00pm and then again around 6:30am.

There was another showing this evening around 6:45. Here is a picture as I was leaving work:

Still sort of hanging around when I arrived back home, but it is too cold to stand around outside and wait.

I propped a GoPro up in a snow drift and set it on a time lapse. . . will have to see if it catches anything interesting.
 
I have fog again tonight..... bummer
