Last week I climbed Table Mountain on the west side of the Tetons. It was the peak night of the Perseid Meteor shower. For those who haven't been there it offers a spectacular view of the west face of the Grand. Almost feels like you can touch it. The hike is 7 miles one way though astounding terrain.

I set my camera up on a tripod and had it take 30s exposures all night hoping to catch a meteor with the Grand. My luck was good that night. This image is actually two exposures blended together, one with the meteor and another from sunset in order to get some light on the mountain. The New Moon was awesome for meteors but difficult for foreground hence the need to blend. The green light in the sky is a common phenomenon called air glow. What I think is the Andromeda Galaxy can be seen in the upper left corner.

Got out to Mt. Robson provincial park in "Northern" BC (read east central but considered the north apparently) this past week. Not only is she the largest mountain in the Canadian Rockies at just under 13,000 feet, she is literally the most dominant feature in the area. A snow storm that happened thursday night and Friday morning left most of the mountain shrouded in cloud, but as the clouds moved I kept thinking wow that is a damn big mountain as more and more was revealed. This was Late friday night illuminated by the moon behind me .
