This probably should go into trip reports as I’ve never gone and had anything like this done before

I’m hoping to get a short Backpack And maybe to New Mexico or Colorado before then but we also wanted to wait till it got a little closer to when it gets cooler here in Central Texas, which is October so at least I’ll have a part of my recovery time and cooler weather. It appears i3 to 6 months recovering pretty good and then 6 to 12 months before you recover full strength.Good luck on the surgery! Is August as soon as they an get you in for surgery? How long is the recovery time going to be?
My wife has had both her hips replaced in the last 18 months and she’s doing pretty well. I’m not really excited about having the surgery, but it seems it will help get back to doing things without the pain and even playing some golf.I don't have specifics, but my wife just had her hip replaced so has been hearing a lot about joint replacement. Supposedly recovery from hip is easiest, knee is in the middle, and shoulder is most challenging. As Scott mentions above, be relentless with your PT and good luck!
