Back to the foothill follies for me this fall. Yesterday I hiked to the summit of Mount Wire with my wife. We hiked up the south side of the mountain and came back down the northern most of the western ridges. Can anyone tell me why it might have been 2003 and 2016?

Definitive proof that I am on the shoreline trail. :)

We overshot the real trail, but we made our way up to it along the transmission line

I played a couple of hours of basketball before going on this hike, so I was going pretty slow.

The ascent is steeper on the south side than it is on the north - about an 1800 foot climb

This mountain mahogany had some character in my eyes

My favorite mountain mahogany, it's been in a number of trip reports in the past

Trail up Red Butte as we approach the shoreline trail again. I just love the golden grass.

I'm confused (what's new?) - the photos look like the identical time frame but from mildly different perspectives - even the clouds and snow are the same. How can they be that many years apart? Did you discover a second roll of film years later? Am I even looking at this in the right way? So many questions...

The shots were all taken on Saturday, but the 2003 ones were what it would have looked like if I had taken the shots that year, while the 2016 ones would look like shots taken in 2016. If any of that makes sense. Perhaps I am overcomplicating it? :)

Color me confused too. Are these photos all old ones? From 2003 and 2016? Where are the 2022 photos?

So...you had two digital cameras - one from 2003 and one from 2016 and you used both cameras to take similar shots in 2022? Or, you had film from 2003 and 2016 in one camera, but kept switching it out for each shot? Or...you had a time machine and travelled back to both years for the shots? Or, you Photoshopped shots from both years to have the same sky, snow, etc. Or, you have been having a little too much Guiness? Or...you're trying to see how confused we can get (nice try, but there are no limits, my friend)? Or, you were standing in a time warp that kept undulating between years? Or...

Nice! Correct on your first guess. The 2003 camera is a Canon Powershot SD100 a 3.2 MP camera, Canon's first SD camera, and the second is a Canon Powershot SX720 HS a 20.3 MP camera released in 2016.

Shows how unobservant I am. I didn't even realize they took those down, even though it should have been obvious even from down in the valley!
I didn't figure it out either until I walked the ridge where they used to be
