late 2019 road conditions in S Utah

that guy and his company are just around the corner from where I live. I can walk over to him.
I've seen many of his clips before, it's a big hit with my co-workers in the park.

Anyway, today, after three days of extremely hard work they got the three cars out that were stuck up KT Road. Some tourists thought it was a good idea to stay at their cabins during a snowstorm and were completely snowed in and couldn't get out.
Those poor guys with the snowcat and plow worked relentlessly the last few days and when I snowshoed out today after dark, they finally crawled out. That would be another good story

Some road updates:

-The Needles, Elephant Hill TH: the dirt road got graded yesterday, no potholes anymore, its as smooth as a baby butt. 2 wheel drive, no snow, no ice. We drove out from the TH just after it was graded yesterday. (The main paved road into the Needles is now also completely free of ice and snow, as of this evening. But new rain/snow is arriving tomorrow).

- House Rock Valley Rd, I called Blm Kanab today. Northern entry ok, when frozen early morning, but otherwise it’s very slippery in the afternoon, requiring 4-WD and HC she said.
Southern entry to access CBS should be better. But more rain is arriving tomorrow Wednesday.

- Monticello. Plenty of ice and snow everywhere in town. More snow/rain arriving tomorrow.

Any idea what the sandy roads W of Johnson Canyon would be like?
Thanks.

I would call the BLM visitor center in Kanab and ask. Kanab got a lot of rain yesterday, so anything sandy is ok, unless you have to cross a wash somewhere! If there is any clay, dirt on those roads, it would be impassable after the rain yesterday.
Pls report back and let us know what you find out.

The weather forecast is looking substantially better next week for Kanab (Everywhere really).

Thanks. Looks like more rain on Sunday.

Late this afternoon I again called the BLM Kanab office about the dirt road conditions of House Rock Valley Rd:
its still in very rough shape, both north and south entry. Definitely 4WD and High clearance they said. It’s drying slowly this week, but the upcoming weekend also looks unsettled weatherwise.

4WD Action is quite the YouTube channel as well @regehr. I'm not always quite sure about their off-roading choices but it's a lot of fun to watch as well. Plus they are in Australia so it's different that way as well. That and Matt's channel are my go to videos.
