After entering the Yellowstone Backcountry Permit Lottery this morning I thought it wise to contribute to this site with a Lifetime Membership. Alot of great trip content I have used to develop plans I found on this site. THANK YOU!
I live just north of Park City Utah and spend a considerable amount of time backpacking in the summer and alpine ski touring in the winter with a few other sports thrown in for variety. With the Uinta Wilderness local, I am quite familiar with the many miles of trails in this range and the many of the off trail options. Yellowstone still remains a top choice for me though and I enjoy the Winds, Gros Ventre, Absarokas and Northern Tetons. These areas are quite specatcular with big views, wildlife and great weather.... most of the time. I did much of the PCT last year when I retired, snow in the North was the challenge last year but I had done most of those sections when I lived in Portland. I have also started volunteering at Hawk Watch International in Salt Lake City this year.
