Brief morning hike on the way to Holiday family gathering in Los Angeles.

Steep hike, no trails but well cairned. Had to lift the dog up steep steps in quite a few places.

Register had logged a dozen parties in 2016, which seems low for something this close to the road.

Halfway up with the highway where we started. Use the First Creek TH for this one.

Huge balanced rock. The rock here is something called Aztec sandstone, which is close in composition to Navajo.

The hike has some good exposure and fine settings, besides being STEEP!

The dog is a little apprehensive with all the drops and sloping slickrock leading to edges.

Summit. About 2700' above the road.

All the packs we carried were MYOG!
