Got our asses handed to us on the not-so-easy south face directly above Starr Spring this weekend. After 4500' of vert and five hours in we still had a mile of snowy ridges over a couple of peaks to get to the main Hillers summit. Threw in the towel.
Kelsey says 8-10 hours. It would have been 12-14 and a bivy somewhere had we continued on this winter day.
From near the high point. We started at the end of the road in the center.
The summit hiding in the background, left of the forested cone.
Hillers from Sunday's recovery hike in upper Butler.
