Hey folks! I know it's tough not to judge a book by its cover , but trust me I dislike New Jersey more than anyone. I grew up hunting & fishing in Pennsylvania, which led to me always wanting bigger mountains and wilder places. I finally went backpacking in 2017, to the Fitzpatrick Wilderness, as well as the Gros Ventre Wilderness. I've been hooked ever since, and spend 3-4 weeks every summer traveling around. I've spent time in the Beartooth-Absarokas, the San Juans, the Rocky Mountain Front, Flathead NF, Great Bear Wilderness, Sawtooth Wilderness, Indian Peaks Wilderness, the Idaho panhandle, Maroon Bells, the Henry Mountains, northern NM, southern Utah, North Cascades, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Glacier, as well as my most memorable experience, three weeks solo backpacking around Alberta & BC.

I don't know if it's in bad taste to share trip reports from years prior, but if not, I would be happy to share.

After years of saving, my fiance & I are leaving our jobs in late April, traveling the country for 6-7 months backpacking around the country at our own pace, with intentions of starting fresh out west. In short, unfortunately there isn't much sense of community back home, and we would love to live in a place where folks wave and smile when they pass you by.

I look forward to contributing on here!

Welcome,
No judgement! I'd appreciate even a TR from the Water Gap, Highpoint, the Pine Barrens or Brigantine. Kudos on the life savings trek plan. We all start somewhere, I was raised appreciating the central Appalachian woodlands from the Delaware Valley, myself.

That's a fabulous list of places to have explored. I'd love to see your trip reports! (And I'm a fellow Easterner, originally from Maryland outside of DC.)
