Anyone know how far up Granite Creek there's likely to be water this time of year? I was thinking about camping a few miles up the trail in order to have time to climb all of Ibapah, Haystack, and Red the next day. But I have no interest in a dry camp. Thanks!

Used to drive way up then they blocked it...then I think you can drive up now. Deer hunted 20 years up there. Quite a bit of water pretty far up. We camped at upper meadow towards ibapah peak just below saddle to Indian side....usually stayed a week but offhand dont remember where springs are. Red mountain is a rocky scramble. Ibapah and haystack not so much. If you want some ghost town mining stuff go up hardscrabble to eagles nest....

Thanks Bob! Ibapah will have to wait, we went to Moriah instead, which was pretty great. Varied hiking, a stream up to about 9000', bristlecones, no bugs to speak of, and as far as we could tell, we had the whole mountain to ourselves last weekend.

Yes.. if you call it a road is right in the bottom of the narrow canyon for ways. Last I was there it was tough getting dirt bikes up it because it was all boulders.. you can go up hardscrabble and hook over to goshute.
