Good multi-day hike "Island in the Sky" - your recommendations?!

Hey there,

we will head out to a three-week roadtrip in Utah mid-June and we want to do a couple of multi-day backcountry hikes. Salt Creek and West Rim Trail are already planned. Does anyone know a good hike in the "Island of the sky district" of Canyonlands NP?
Any recommendations are highly appreciated !

Good Morning Dirk.

Mid June you are looking at temps of 95F+. Island in the Sky, while beautiful is not a popular backpacking destination due to lack of water. People do spend nights in the district, but generally in MUCH cooler months.

I agree with what @slc_dan said. You'll want to carry a lot of water because there are not lots of water sources around there, especially for a multi day trip.

To answer your question, for a good multi-day trip, you could make a loop out of the Alcove Spring Trail, White Rim Road, Upheaval Canyon, and the Syncline trail. I'm not sure about water availability at Alcove Spring in June.
