Have been in touch with the forest service supervisor in charge of the forest service patrol cabins and it looks like we’ll be tending either the Fox Park or Hawks Rest patrol cabin next summer. This has been a dream of mine for some time and I can’t think of a better way to spend a few weeks of the summer than tending to one of these wild backcountry cabins. Just wondering if anyone has been to the Fox Park Cabin and if so what the area around there is like? We’ll probably do quite a bit of day hikes while there to see as much of the area as possible.

Team Jenkins, now sent you an email. Good for you and am really happy for you. The whole Fox Park Area is wonderful! I have been here a multitude of times thru the years and love it here. The area is Great for wildlife viewing and one can hike and explore in all directions. This area does not receive not nearly the amount of use that the Hawks Rest area gets. The scenery is not quite so dramatic with being away from the main peaks of the Absaroka Range. But it makes up for this in it's superb wildness. There is this whole Fox Park and the beginnings of the Snake River Area here around the area. Then on either side is the super wild areas of the Two Ocean Plateau and the Big Game Ridge Areas. But of these areas have nice large trailless expanses. Right nearby is wonderful Yellowstone NP with all of it's wildness to see and explore. again Good for you and am Happy for you! Wishing You the Best!
