That crazy looking bug is a Jerusalem cricket. Crazy little things. Love those fall colors down there.

We always called them Sand Puppies, I like our pet name for them better than Jerusalem Cricket.

Hah! Aren't they chameleons? Unless I was hallucinating I watched one change colors when it ran off a brown rock in to some green leaves to hide from me.

When I read in your trip report you had seen lots of chameleons running around. I snickered...and thought awe that is kinda cute...he calls them chameleons.

Just saw one of these for the first time this past weekend on the Arizona Strip.

Just an update on the GPS thing. After a month of looking at it, Garmin said the phone data was correct and the inReach was flawed so they are sending me a new inReach. I'm hoping to get out again (somewhere) first week of December so it will be interesting to see if the discrepancy between Earthmate app and the handheld is resolved or not.
