Trip report from our recent family adventure to Peru. We acclimated in the Sacred Valley before venturing onto Cusco and eventually hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Excellent! We did a similar trip in 2011, then went back in 2015 to hike the Cordillera Blanca. And we were there again last year to do more exploring and hiking around Cusco. What a wonderful place to visit: stunning scenery, unbelieveable archeology, lovely people, and amazing cuisine. When are you going back?

Scheming on what to do on a return trip. I'd really like to do the Choquequirao to Vilcabamba trek (had to cancel this previously due to the pandemic). Also on the list is Lares and there are so many day hikes to do in the Sacred Valley and Cusco!

This ebook is inspiring if you haven't see it already: https://issuu.com/saexpeditions/docs/the_great_inca_trail

Decided to go back to Peru way sooner than anticipated. I just joined a group that was looking for additional people for the Choquequirao to Vilcabamba trek, starting August 26! Leaving the family at home for this one and trying solo travel out. I'm looking for some pre-trek hikes in the Sacred Valley if you have any reccs? Looking at Huchuy Qosqo or Intipunku Sun Gate as choices.
