It’s warm and sunny so we decided to take a shortish hike to Jockeybush Lake, 3.2 miles r/t and 350’ elevation gain to the lake. Several hunters had parked at the trailhead but we didn’t see any of them but we did chat with a young couple who were camping at the lake. Trail was wet/muddy and the waterfalls were going strong. I think this was part of an old homemade barrel stove.

The trail crosses the stream further down but rock hopping wasn’t possible so we found this downed tree to cross.
A few days ago this area got about five inches of snow. All gone now! It was about 70 degrees at the lake.

So many pretty colors! Thanks for sharing!

@kwc: From your pics I can almost feel the autumn energy in the air :) Thanks for sharing! Once while I was hiking on a trail in an area similar to the one in your third photo I heard the sound in the distance of the leaves fallen on the ground moving and realized that probably something big was coming towards me. I stopped to pay more attention to understand what was happening, but didn't even have time to concentrate that just two seconds later two deer jumped over my head in an impressive and truly memorable leap which I almost couldn't believe that that moment was real. Have you noticed any animal during your hike?

@Adr1an ... we seldom see deer while out hiking. Typically we see partridge (grouse) along with other birds. Beaver while canoeing.
