"Autumn Blaze" Maple (the wind turned the leaves upside down). If we are lucky, this Maple will be flaming red in a week from now ! Let's hope.

Inspired by @chandlerwest and @Scott Chandler - flaming red Poison Ivy....

And at last- Tiger Sumac. It's everywhere and among the first to change to orange/red colors.

After about 2400 miles behind the windshield we drove into Capitol Reef this afternoon, whew....... Time to hike.
The Fall colors are stunning right now! It looks like the Cottonwoods are showing peak colors here.
Here is one of Rick's photos from this afternoon.

The leaves turned color almost overnight this year. . . and the next day(s) brought a lot of wind and rain. The weather calmed down a bit today so I took a walk around home before heading into work (and before the leaves were completely off the trees).

The deer were out for a walk of their own.

This is the view from my doorstep -- normally the leaves stay where they fall but I will need to rake these out of the dog yard.

A view of the pond with bonus reflections.

A couple close ups. Not sure if I was looking at morning dew or melted frost in the second pic.

We hiked into Lower Calf Creek Fall yesterday to try and catch some remaining fall colors along the creek. Later we returned eastbound on Burr Trail rd via the switchbacks to Torrey, just to check out the lay of the land, whoa!!! Spectacular, we will be back to hike there in a few days! But....why did I feel ok driving down the Burr Trail rd switchbacks but I always get clammy hands and feet every time I drive over that hog back between Boulder and Escalante?

Some fall pictures from the Lower Calf Creek fall trail.

It was frigid (!) waiting as Rick later on set up for multi shot panoramas and 360 pictures. Later I was bundled up with gloves, headband, extra layers....

You are hitting the cottonwoods in full swing. They were not like that almost two weeks ago... Nice!

Fall is finally showing up in KY. I have done a couple dayhikes in the Red River Gorge during October and each time I was disappointed in the lack of color. Beginning of this week (10/29) there are finally fall colors showing, but still not at the potential peak.

I'll hopefully make it back again before everything turns brown and grey.

Upper Muley Twist trail a few days ago. We drove into the Upper Muley Twist trailhead and hiked the full loop, spectacular hike off Burr trail road, Capitol Reef NP.

You wonder what this tree has all seen throughout it's life !
image.jpeg

More fall color on the return to the trailhead, we hiked the loop counter-clockwise. On the way out we hiked high up on the white rim with stunning views over the Waterpocket fold @Perry
