Duck Lake

I have had a hard time getting out to shoot this fall. I did go up to the mirror lake highway and was really impressed with the aspen groves up there. I liked this bunch that had a rainbow of color on them. I also liked how they are so persistent growing up and out of the talus slope.

That shot of the aspen stand is beyond breathtaking!

Anybody been over Hwy 12 lately?

I've been checking the leaf report for Utah and Southern Utah is supposed to peak in mid to late October. My friend in Kanab says no leaves are changing in town yet, just in the mountains. Man I hope I don't miss fall this year! Less than a month until I get there…..these photos are both killing me and inspiring me.

Sorry to tell you this but Boulder Mountain on 12 has pretty much peaked and even has snow at the higher altitudes, it happened early this year. There are a few trees that haven't turned at all which might give you some late colour.

At the base of Bridal Veil Falls. A long exposure, which is why you will see some blurring in the leaves.

Wow it's amazing what a difference a week and a half makes. I took a picture from that same spot on that bridge on the 21st and all the vegetation along the river was still green.

Thanks Bob. I have pretty much written that one off anyway. I'll be going to Canyonlands in a few weeks and wondering if it would be worth it to take the extra time and go over the 12, or just do a straight shot on the 70. I think I'll take the extra time and check out some places in Kolob Canyon, then head over on the 70. Thanks for the info, appreciate it!
