As July turned into August, Jenny West and I worked our way up to the Inspiration Glacier and then summited Eldorado Peak. It is during one of the more regular heat spells that come that way more often these years. As time passes, I start to count nights in the alpine more than summits visited, because that number is larger. Well, that is one of the reasons. The climb starts with a sketchy log crossing over a swift river and the ascent to the summit is over 7,000 vertical feet. We take two days to get up there, take a day to rest and enjoy the ambiance, rotating hang out spots to avoid too much solar radiation, then summit day, complete with a obligatory nap and another full day to descend. Four nights up in the heavens. Another fine outing, with fine company.
