it looks like a gorgeous area and a somewhat frightening mountain. hope the guy can beat the odds here.

are the 6 foot drifts left over from last year or are they fresh??

They didn’t say. If that storm that he was caught in put down that much snow up there it was a pretty good one.

I doubt 6' of it are fresh - though you never know w/ 40+ mph winds - but could easily of been 2'+ of fresh snow on Wednesday at that elevation.

Heres the standard climbing route...... not real easy. With snow and poor visiblity.... really bad.
