Death Valley Birthday - Part 1 (3.5.20-3.6.20)

Great shots! I have been fascinated with that place after reading about the Death Valley Germans. That is one of the coolest things I have read on the Internet. Anyone not familiar with that story should Google it and read about it on Otherhand.org!

Read it last night before bed! Missing person cases always make me so sad, but it is great that they were found. :)

You took some fantastic pictures, I especially love the flowers! I was fortunate enough to visit DV in mid-February and did many of the same stops, but I was a little early for most of the wildflowers.

You might be interested in this book should you ever hit DVNP again.

I used the Digonnet book for planning my trip as well, it's a fantastic resource. Highly recommended!

I was kinda hoping there would be more! Haha I spoke to a ranger and he advised me that there was maybe a couple different blooms in an area I had already driven to and I didn’t want to go back haha
He said that if I came back in a few weeks there would definitely be more. I was grateful to have found any though. Still on the hunt to see my first cactus flower though!!

Beautiful pics. Thank you for sharing. BTW, Bodie is also worth seeing. There's a great camping spot that is in some brush on a hill about 15-20 minute walk from the main entrance.

Oooooh there is camping near Bodie?! I can't wait to go someday!

Loving this - DVNP is on my to do list and your TR is excellent! I always forget about the sand doing desert camping - it seems to get everywhere haha!

It was more than I thought it could be! Hopefully, that doesn’t set you up for disappointment haha don’t want that bar too high.
@John Morrow always has great Trip Reports about Death Valley too!
I hope you can take a visit soon and enjoy the sand getting in...everything!

It's along a road that heads south out of Bodie. You come up on a little ridge covered in oak brush. You leave the road on a two track heading west for a few hundred yards. You can sit up there and witness sunset and sunrise on Bodie. In the morning we hiked into Bodie and got back late afternoon.
