Coyote Buttes South Permit forecast

Somebody mentioned that with the NatGeo article in the current issue about the Vermilion/Coyote Buttes area, there would probably be a swarm of visitors. I just checked the permit calendar and there are lots of spaces available up until around the middle of March, and then nothing through the end of April. It will probably be like this all summer. So if you wanna go, you might consider grabbing a ticket in Feb. or early Mar. while they last.

I went several times in June and during that time a lot of permits were gone within the first day they were available.
But I never saw anyone of those who grabbed the permits.
Next time I wanna go in winter, because it's much easier to get a permit.
