Continental Divide Trail Thru Hike 2018 - 31 Episode Video Series

I had no headache, nausea or breathing problems at night. I did still have the loss of appetite though. My brother did not take Diamox and still had a loss of appetite.

Acetazolamide ER (extended release) 500MG is the generic for Diamox Sequels 500MG. Both of my prescriptions were filled using the generic so that seems to be okay. Your doctor might not be familiar with Diamox being used for altitude acclimatization. Mine had to go look it up.

Pro tip: start taking them the day before you head out to the field and take it first thing in the morning. They are initially a diuretic and make you pee like crazy for the first day then that gets back to normal. If you take it in the evening you'll be up to the bathroom all night.

Some users claim they only need to take them the first day or two to get past the acclimatization period and can discontinue them. The first trip where I used Diamox this I what I did and the last couple of nights I experienced the periodic breathing problem. The next trip I took them up through the last day and did well.
