Interesting article. If this were to come to fruition, there would be a whole lot more than Cathedral coming out of the water. Unlikely this scenario would play out like this with the good water year in the drainage, but still interesting to think about.

Interesting read, thanks Nick. I think it's pretty obvious that the lower-basin states would make a play for upper-basin allotments if the situation ever gets that severe. It seems reasonable to assume that the reason lower-basin representatives don't want to talk on record is they're already contingency planning the federal lawsuit.

The notion of paying off farmers to stay on the arid land that can't support them seems woefully shortsighted to me.
