Cold is okay. Rain is even okay. But wind blows.
No problem, I did the loop Tue & Wed, on Tuesday we couldn't get over the Bentonite Hills but they had dried by Wednesday. The road over from Cathedral Valley to UT72 is not open yet but the loop is fine. The flowers are amazing. We were thinking about doing the Cathedral Valley loop this weekend. Does anyone have any info about the condition of the road, especially after last weekend's storms? We have a 4WD Toyota forerunner.

Had some friends go over this weekend - the mountain is open!
The campground has great views close by and is not likely to be busy at any time of the year. That said, I skipped it. While I'm sure it would have run afoul of park regs, I just slept in the back of my car at Temple of the Moon. I arrived late and left early to avoid drawing attention.
I'd assume there are places to pull out along the Caineville road outside of the park but I've not searched myself.
Like ashergrey I slept in my truck here. Nobody else around but a few people showed up just at sunrise.
"No, officer, I'm not camping. I'm doing star photography."
