Hello all, My wife and I are traveling to Capital Reef NP in April and will be doing a backpacking trip through a section of the park. CR is the only Utah park we have not visited, and we are excited to go. My question is concerning picking a route. We are wanting to do 25 to 30 miles over 3 days. I know that's a short trip, but we have other activities planned in the area and in Colorado. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. I have attached a link to a route I am considering. It was generated through Alltrails. Please check it out and let me know what you think. By the way, we are experienced backpackers, Thank you!

I've only dayhiked those trails, but two thoughts:
No idea how river levels might be in April, but I would first check out the crossing at the bottom of Spring, and consider starting there and doing the route in reverse if it looks like weather (rain or increased snowmelt) might increase the flow. Expect to at least wade in Sulfur, but possibly more. That might be refreshing, or not, depending again on the weather.

Thank you. I'll be sure to check the levels when picking up my permit.

That Spring/Sulfur loop is a bit too frontcountry for my tastes, of course ymmv.
Thank you. This is our first time in the park. Just not sure which area would be the best. I will say a loop trip is what I'm looking for to eliminate shuttle drivers or hitching.

There are a couple of excellent videos of Jamal Green's (@Jammer ) backpacking trip in Capitol Reef last year, involving both Sulphur Creek and Spring Canyon, which you might find useful for your planning
