Pretty sure this night was the coldest I've ever been in a tent. Temps dropped to 18 and the wind blew 20-30 mph all night long. It was pretty, though!

That's funny--the once I camped in McCurdy Park was likewise one of the coldest nights I've had. It must have been 15 deg colder than weather.gov predicted. Maybe something about that little area traps in the cold or something?

Weird! We knew it was supposed to be cold, but it tracked way colder there than predicted for us, too - at least 10+ degrees.

It had been really, really cold down in the aptly named Refrigerator Gulch the night before, but despite the climb up it was still way colder at McCurdy Park the next night.

After looking at Roper's guidebook on my bookshelf for the last three decades I finally did the Sierra High Route. It took 14 days to Tuolumne where I decided to save the last 2 days for another time

It's been a summer devoid of big trips for me, but instead one full of fun one and two-nighters.

This was at Rito Alto Lake down in the Sangre de Cristo Range a few weeks back, shortly after a small pack of coyotes woke me up hootin' and hollerin'.

That one brings back some memories. Camped by that lake on my first ever backpacking trip. We camped down by the lake though, and I don't have any good pictures of our camp. But that was my first proper alpine camping experience!
